Dear, Mr. Bobcat,
I have a friend who's been coming to me because he's been struggling after a hard break up. It had a really big toll on him, and he's not been in a good place mentally. I keep asking him to talk to someone who isn't me who can help him better, but he wont because he believes it makes him feel weak. Even after reassuring him it doesn't, he told me it makes him feel that way. His mental state isn't getting better, and he told me he's constantly feeling sad. What do I do to make sure he can do better??

I'm so sorry your friend is going through this. I completely agree with you. Your friend does need to go to someone who can help them more than you can. Please let him know that he needs to talk to a parent or counselor and get a wellness check. In mental health, we never keep dangerous secrets. Rather than just telling him to go talk to someone, it might be a good idea to offer to go with him. That will show him that he's not weak and that he has support from you. Show him that you're with him, no matter what. In the end, though, you are right: he needs to get some help that you can't give. Help him to get there. Remember, you can also take him to see Hope Squad advisors like Mr. Becraft or Mrs. Rigby. The administrators are also good resources.
