Nap-time Should be an Elective

Nap-time should be an elective. Of course, this statement seems childish. But, many students would agree. This would be a great time for students to relax and finally get a break. There are many reasons why teachers and schools should consider making nap-time an elective.
First of all, research has found that 73% of Junior High/High School students are sleep deprived. A nap-time elective would help with this. It may not give them all the sleep they need but over time all the sleep would add up it would be enough for them to receive the energy they need to get through their days.
Now, many teachers would argue that this class would not teach students anything. It is a rule that for teachers to follow, that their class needs to teach students something. Schools are, of course, for students’ education. If nap-time was an elective, there are many things that students could learn. First, they could learn good meditation tips. To be able to calm themselves down and take a break. Another thing that students could learn in this class would be relaxation and stress relief. This class would have the ability to calm students down especially with all the stress and anxiety that comes with being a teenager and a high school student.
Next, many would say that school may not be a student’s favorite part of the day. Because of this, students do more activities before and after school to be able to have an opportunity to do something other than school. The things they do are the things they enjoy to have fun and get a break.  This usually includes sports, jobs, arts, and other hobbies and clubs. This exhausts students even further, making them even more sleep-deprived. A nap-time elective would help students catch up on sleep and give them a break from what they could be going through. If students got more sleep they would probably be more productive during school. They would most likely enjoy school more as well.
There are many reasons why nap-time should be an elective. Hopefully, teachers and staff will consider making nap-time an elective. Students would appreciate this and would benefit from it. Nap-time should be an elective.

Implementing nap-time as an elective could enhance students' well-being. Given that many teenagers experience sleep deprivation, a short break could help them stay more focused and productive in school. Additionally, learning relaxation techniques in class could have long-term benefits.
